History

Red Lane Church has had some serious thinking to do in recent times. Faced with an ever-dwindling and ever-ageing membership, along with ever-increasing maintenance costs, it knew that its very survival would be in jeopardy unless action was taken.

The new church building

The new church building

The decision was taken in March 2007 to sell off the land on which the sanctuary stood and to transform the church hall back into a church as it had been when Red Lane was formed back in 1959.

The money from the sale of the land, together with grants, bequests and donations, paid for the transformation of the church hall into an all-purpose community building with space set aside for a worship area, and that transformation gave the church a new lease of life.

That new lease of life, however, is once again under threat as the average age of the congregation continues to rise while the number attending does not.
